About Us

Gymea Pre-Kindergarten is a boutique, 39 place, child care centre nestled in the leafy suburb of Gymea.

Entering into the world of child care for the first time or changing childcare services can be a very daunting process for any child and their family. Our service and educators understand that families need a quality childcare centre that will support the increasing pressures of balancing work and family requirements. At Gymea Pre-Kindergarten, your child will be cared for by our dedicated and qualified educators in a nurturing environment that is designed to be their home away from home.  Our warm and friendly family of educators are here to form cherished relationships and bonds with your family over the coming years.

Educators  lead each child on a daily journey of discovery, whilst encouraging children to be actively involved in age appropriate educational programs and group learning experiences. Gymea Pre-Kindergarten will work in collaboration with families and the community to provide the stepping stones and foundations for education in the early years.

Gymea Pre-Kindergarten is owned and operated by Keyorris PTY LTD, a small dedicated family company who own and operate Long Day Care and OOSH centres in the Sutherland Shire, St.George and Eastern Suburbs.

“As parents ourselves we know the challenges of raising children and working at the same time. With over 20 years’ experience in the industry, our commitment to quality early education and care is paramount to us” – Fiona Keyes (owner).

We cater for 39 children per day across three rooms. Open 51 weeks a year, caring for children aged from 6 weeks to School Age.

OUR VALUES

At Gymea Pre-Kindergarten we:

  • Recognise and value each child by supporting their discovery and unique personality.
  • Follow a holistic and individualised approach to learning, ensuring learning is integrated and interconnected.
  • Communicate with each child in ways that promote a sense of belonging and assurance, cultivating a child’s self-awareness, feelings, thoughts and attitudes.
  • Endorse sustainable practices and provide naturalistic play spaces for discovery and connection with nature.
  • Understand that families are a child’s first and foremost educator. We welcome all family input and involvement and respect each child’s individual needs, family values, traditions, cultural background and interests.

We value the importance of professional development. Our educators are continuously evolving new innovative ideas through professional relationships.

“A child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn’t been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.” -Pablo Casals

OUR APPROACH

  • Our curriculum reflects the Early Learning Years Framework; Belonging, Being, and Becoming.
  • Our program provides opportunities for children to explore and learn through their senses. Nurtures positive group relationships and encourages co-operative and collaborative behaviour.
  • Our education approach supports each child for their uniqueness, and challenges their own interests, talents and abilities.
  • Our environment promotes each child’s sense of autonomy by providing choices.
  • Our educators promote self-expression, exploration, experimentation and trial and error in a safe and secure setting

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.” -O. Fred Donaldson
